Community Room Use
Local civic, cultural, and educational organized groups, for meeting purposes only, will be charged $10.00 per hour. Individuals and non local organizations will be charged $15.00 per hour, or $40.00 for three hours.
Library and/or City functions will be given reservation priority. Other requests will be filled on a first come, first served basis.
Reservations may be made not more than one year in advance, and at least 49 hours in advance. To hold a reservation, a completed application form must be received by an authorized representative of the library. A form must be filled out for each use of the community room.
The community room will be available no earlier than 9:00 a.m. and no later than 9:00 p.m. All evening events must be arranged so that the room is cleaned and put back in order by 9:00 p.m. The room will not be available on Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, or New Year's Day.
A deposit of $10.00 must be made at least 48 hours in advance. The deposit is forfeited if cancellation occurs within 48 hours of the scheduled event.
An additional deposit may be required if the Library Director deems it advisable. If this occurs, notice shall be given to the person and/or organization, and said deposit in cash, which will not exceed $200.00, shall be paid on or before 24 hours prior to the scheduled event. Failure to pay deposit automatically forfeits the right to use the facilities. Crowd control and/or security officers may be required, if deemed necessary by the Library Director, to be provided at the expense of the sponsoring individual or organization.
No group or individual may assign a reservation to another without express written consent of the Library Director.
Reservations will not be accepted for any regularly scheduled religious services or regularly scheduled school functions, such as kindergarten or daycare activities.
The individual making the reservation, as well as the membership of the group as a whole, shall be expressly liable for any and all damages that may occur as a result of the use of the facilities.
Permission to use the community room may be withheld from groups and/or individuals damaging the facillities, or causing a disturbance, or behaving in an objectionable manner, or failing to comply with the rules and regulations as are herein contained. Permission to use the room will be denied to an organization whose purpose is illegal; whose conduct would interfere with the proper functioning of the library; whose purpose is to promote activities and materials that are obscene or defamatory, or that directly incite violence; or whose activity does not have the sponsorship of a legally responsible adult registered for meeting room use with the library.
The building will be opened at the requested time by an authorized representative of the Mount Calm Public Library. If more than one opening and/or closing is required for an event, each such opening or closing will cost $5.00 each time.
The meeting room and kitchen are to be left as they are found. Groups and/or individuals will be responsible for cleaning up and for general maintenance. Length of time for a meeting or activity should include the time for setting up the room and putting it back to its original condition at the end of the event.
Decorations or materials that will mar or damage walls, floor, and/or ceiling are prohibited. Permission for special decorations or exhibits will be granted at the discretion of the Library Director.
Use of the kitchen does not incur extra charges.
The community center is not liable for lost or damaged articles belonging to persons or groups.
Neither the name nor address of the Mount Calm Public Library and Community Center may be used as an official address or headquarters for any organization.
The fact that persons or groups are permitted to use the facilities does not in any way constitute an endorsement of those persons, groups, policies, beliefs, or actions by the library or by the City of Mount Calm.
Any and all exceptions to these rules and regulations must be granted by the Library Director.
